Grade Calculator
Calculate your current class grade from weighted groups such as homework, quizzes, and exams.
Our Grade Calculator estimates your current weighted class average from the work you have entered so far. Here's how to use it:
Step 1: Add one row for each assignment, exam, quiz, project, or other graded item you want to include.
Step 2: Enter an item name if you want an easier breakdown later. The name is optional.
Step 3: Enter the grade for that row. You can type a percentage such as 92 or a supported letter grade such as A-, B+, or C.
Step 4: Enter the weight for that item as a percent of your course grade.
Step 5: Add more rows as needed, then click 'Calculate' to see your current grade, letter grade, total included weight, weighted points, and a row-by-row breakdown.
This calculator uses a weighted-average formula for each entered row:
Contribution of a row = Grade × Weight / 100
Current Grade = Sum of all row contributions / Sum of all entered weights × 100
This is equivalent to: Current Grade = Sum of (Grade × Weight) / Sum of Weights
Grades can be entered either as percentages or as supported letter grades. Letter grades are converted to numeric values before the weighted average is calculated.
A grade calculator helps you estimate where you stand in a class before the term is over. This Grade Calculator is built for weighted courses where assignments, exams, projects, or other graded items do not all count equally. Instead of asking for earned points and possible points inside categories, this tool lets you enter each graded item directly with its grade and course weight.
That makes it useful when your syllabus already tells you how much each item is worth, or when you want to model only the work that has been graded so far. You can mix quizzes, tests, projects, homework, and participation rows in one list, then instantly see how much each row contributes to the total.
The calculator also accepts both percentages and letter grades, so it works well for classes that report scores in different formats. Once you calculate, you get your current weighted average, the matching letter grade, the total weight included so far, and a breakdown that shows exactly which rows are driving the result.
It is also helpful for planning. If your total included weight is below 100%, you can use the current result as a progress snapshot and quickly test how future high-value assignments or exams may affect your overall class average.
