VLDL (mg/dL) = Triglycerides ÷ 5

Formula: VLDL (mg/dL) = Fasting Triglycerides (mg/dL) ÷ 5. If measured in mmol/L, the formula is: VLDL (mmol/L) = Fasting Triglycerides (mmol/L) ÷ 2.2.

For example, if a patient has a fasting triglyceride level of 150 mg/dL, their estimated VLDL would be 150 ÷ 5 = 30 mg/dL.
